Pub
of the Month
Location:
St Mary's st. Cardiff
This
month we venture into St. Mary's St. Cardiff, with more bars
than the local chocolate factory!
We try the best ones out.
First
up is Sams Bar (see end of article).
The
Philharmonic is our next port of call, a lively pub, especially
at weekends, with rock and pop music on the ground floor, and
dance in the basement.
Further
along is The Walkabout club, an expansive 'Aussie' venue filled
with sports screens.
On
the corner stands the impressive Weatherspoon's, Prince of Wales.
The upstairs restaurant area is decked out to resemble a theatre,
but without West End prices!
Opposite is the newly opened O'Neil's, already attracting the
crowds! While the smaller Mullingan's, across the way, is a
more traditional Irish pub.
Last
up, and well worth a stop-over is the Oz Bar, yes it is another
'Aussie' pub.
Despite
the multitude of great venues, there could only be one Pub of
the Month.
This
accolade must go to Sam's Bar - a Mediterranean style café-bar
with food and live music. The intimate and relaxed atmosphere
of Sams, makes a pleasant change from the hustle and bustle
of modern Cardiff. An evening here could be the beginning of
a beautiful friendship.
