This
picturesque village set in Snowdonia is an absolute delight,
with awe-inspiring views over the Nant Gwynant Valley and Aberglaslyn
Pass. The romance of the town is heightened with the tragic,
legendary story of Prince Llywelyn ap Iowerth and his dog Gelert
who is allegedly buried in the town.
Amongst the sprinkling of charming cottages is the National
Trust visitors Centre, Bwythyn Llewelyn, set in an old 17th
Century public house. Outside the town is the disused Sygun
Copper Mine, an extremely rewarding and informative tour, with
a chance to walk through the multitude of caverns within. The
area is a walkers paradise, with the eight mile path from Moel
Hebog Mountain to Beddgelert Forest being the most beautiful.
